In southern European countries people on New Year's Eve or New Year's Day eat lentils (because they swell with cooking or soaking and thus stand for opulence). I wanted to make lentil soup on New Year's Day, but didn't have leek and celery (all the shops, even the local Turkish and Moroccan stores were closed), so I made up the following dish with lentils.

Je hebt nodig: ui, gember, rood pepertje, knoflook, quinoa, linzen (gekookt), wortels, snijbonen, tahini, tamari, lenteui. Extra: soja nuggets. Extra: mini poppadums.
